Minutes from the Jan. meeting were accepted.

Instructor Reports (attached)
New Business- Greg Fox proposed that it be put in writing that we give an Honorarium to the guest clinician who was at the District II Festival for the extra time he spent with the High School students. Suggested amount was $100. The Ohio State Marching Band is coming to perform at the Oak Harbor vs. Port Clinton game on Oct. 13th. We should work with the Alumni from Ohio State and the people from Oak Harbor about serving dinner on Friday night. We will be serving about 260 meals so we will need lots of help.
Old Business- It was brought up that money is owed to the Basketball Concession Stand for the Pep Band members who ate there. This matter needs to be looked into. The Festival went very well. There is enough pop left for the Track Concessions. There was a question about the records for the concession stand. Raincoats are still on order. Fundraiser- No new ideas Scholarship Committee consists of Marcia Bloom, Jane Fleming, and Joy Allen. They will be meeting the first part of March.
A motion was made by Carol Fox to adjourn and seconded by Alice Root. Meeting was adjourned.

Music Booster Report – February
The sixth grade band is progressing nicely this year and is very nice group of students to work with. They are actively preparing for their concert in May and are very excited about playing their instruments. We are rehearsing in a full band setting each morning and have quite a bit of fun playing each day.
The symphonic band is actively preparing for contest, which will be held on March 10-11th at Oak Harbor High School this year. At the current moment, we are tentatively scheduled to perform on Friday night, and our selections will include The Walking Frog by King, Dancing in Air by Yo Goto, and Abrams Pursuit by Holsinger. We will once again be competing in class B. To assist with contest preparations, the band will be having several guests come in to listen and provide constructive feedback to the students and myself about how to improve. These guests will include Dr. Jason Stumbo, Director of bands at the University of Toledo, Mr. Carl Collins, Assistant Director of Bands at the University of Toledo, Mr. Milton Allen, Doctoral Conducting Associate at the Ohio State University, and Dr. Barry Kopetz from Capital University.
This year, several students have asked, and I have re-established the Wind Ensemble as a performing group within the high school band program. This group is made up of the top players in each section and is comprised of approximately 40 students. They meet on Mondays and Wednesdays and rehearse music of a higher caliber and will perform at the scheduled band concerts this spring. They will not compete this year, but the intent is to help those students who are better players have more of a challenge within the class, as well as to expose those students who wish to play in college to music that they will be more likely to see when they get there.
The jazz band is actively rehearsing again for several upcoming events. We have been asked to perform at the Ohio School Board Association Regional Conference in Bowling Green in March as the featured entertainment, as well as will be performing at the Vineyard in April. We are also planning a performance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the month of April as well. In addition, the students will have the opportunity to work with Professor Jay Miglia from Capital University, who is a jazz saxophonist, as well as with Dave Sycks, Director of Bands at the Bluffton High School, who is a jazz trumpeter, in the art of improvisation and furthering their knowledge of jazz performance. All of these activities will be keeping the jazz band very active.
We received notification on Friday night at the PC/OSU basketball game that the marching band will have the opportunity to share the field on October 13th, 2006 with the OSU Marching Band. At this point, we are not sure of the performance details, but we know that they are coming, and this should be an exciting learning opportunity for the students in both the Port Clinton and Oak Harbor bands.
On Saturday, February 11th, David
Root participated in the District II solo and ensemble competition held
at Clyde High School. He performed the Hindemith Bassoon Sonata and
received a superior rating for his performance.
I have been working to collect the remaining band fees that are still outstanding. I have sent another letter to the delinquent parents and have collected several checks, which I have already given to Mrs. Bloom. I will continue to be diligent in pursuing these individuals for the remaining fees.
Thus ends my report.
