When my High School Band Director first asked me to play
Taps for a funeral. I was excited. My first thought was,
I get to get out of school. But my feelings quickly
turned from the excitement of missing school to the
tremendous privilege I had in helping friends and family
honor their veteran. I played many funerals during High
School.
Since High School, I have had many opportunities to play TAPS
at funerals and special events. Some times with my
daughters, Megan and Melissa. Business has suppressed my ability to
play recently. The emotion and pride created by these
few notes is overwhelming, both to those who hear it and
myself while playing. I thank my teacher, Earl Warnke,
for giving me this "Honor".
Respectfully,
Robert Dodge
